Why did they wait until now to showcase iPhone pictures on official channels? Well, this will sound gossipy but it is possibly due to the past tension between the company and Instagram, after the app’s expansion to Android.

Phil Schiller, Apple’s vice president of worldwide marketing, deleted his Instagram account in 2012 after the app launched on Android, saying that the platform had gone “too big”. Anyway, it’s a fact that the app has now 700 million monthly active users -it’s growing faster than ever- and can’t be ignored as a powerful marketing channel.
